The Affordable Care Act introduced federal tax penalties for not having health insurance. This forced a lot of people who were not covered under a health insurance plan to enroll with a provider. The idea was to ensure that everyone was covered in the event of an emergency and lower the cost of health insurance for everyone. As we all know, everyone has many monthly expenses that we need to live, eat, and have a place to eat. An unfortunate reality is that some of us cannot afford to pay another monthly bill.



Despite the financial hardship that many of us deal with daily, we all had to get health insurance. The main reason is that we were stuck with the federal tax penalties if we did not enroll in a health coverage plan. Now that new administrations have come into office and new laws have passed, do we still get penalized for being uninsured? As of 2023, those who do not purchase health insurance coverage are not subject to federal penalties.
